TOI-6695 c
Astrophysical Synthesis & Habitability Characterization
TOI-6695 c is a confirmed gas giant exoplanet orbiting the star TOI-6695, located approximately 921.5 light-years (282.54 parsecs) from the Solar System. First announced in 2025 by Multiple Observatories using the Radial Velocity detection technique (measuring periodic Doppler reflex motion in the host star's spectrum), this world measures 13.6 Earth radii (1.21 Jupiter radii) and has a measured mass of 460.851 Earth masses (1.45 Jupiter masses). Combining its mass and radius yields a mean bulk density of 1.01 g/cm³ (a low bulk density dominated by an extended hydrogen-helium gaseous envelope), a surface gravity of 2.49 g⊕ (24.42 m/s²), and an escape velocity of 65.1 km/s.
In its orbital architecture around TOI-6695, TOI-6695 c completes one full revolution every 242.4 Earth days at a semi-major axis of 0.838 AU (comparable to the inner terrestrial zone between Venus, Earth at 1.00 AU, and Mars at 1.52 AU). Its mean orbital velocity is approximately 37.6 km/s (compared to Earth's 29.8 km/s). With a near-circular eccentricity of e = 0.022 (ranging from 0.8196 AU at periapsis to 0.8564 AU at apoapsis), the planet experiences minimal orbital distance variation.
⚠️ Thermal Regime (Irradiated / Hot Zone): At an equilibrium temperature of 415 K (+142°C / +288°F) and receiving 4.94 S⊕ (~6,725 W/m²), TOI-6695 c orbits interior to the runaway greenhouse boundary where surface liquid water cannot persist.
The host star TOI-6695 is classified as a warm F-type star of spectral type F5V-G0V with an effective photospheric temperature of 6,400 K, a radius of 1.517 R☉, a mass of 1.338 M☉, an estimated bolometric luminosity of 3.464 L☉. Stellar evolution modeling indicates an estimated stellar age of 2.1 Gyr and a metallicity of [Fe/H] = 0.2 dex (metal-rich relative to the Sun). From Earth, TOI-6695 shines at apparent V-band magnitude 10.768 (faint and requiring research-grade or CCD telescopic photometry) in the Southern celestial hemisphere. The TOI-6695 system is a multi-planet architecture hosting 2 confirmed worlds, with TOI-6695 c sharing its stellar neighborhood alongside TOI-6695 b.
Methodology: Computed using the Schulze-Makuch et al. (2011) weighted metric comparing physical interior (radius, estimated density) and surface thermal regime (escape velocity, equilibrium temperature).
