Astrophysical Synthesis & Habitability Characterization

PSR B0329+54 b is a confirmed terrestrial exoplanet orbiting the star PSR B0329+54, located approximately 1646.9 light-years (504.93 parsecs) from the Solar System. First announced in 2017 by Multiple Facilities using the Pulsar Timing detection technique, this world measures 1.22 Earth radii and has a measured mass of 1.97 Earth masses. Combining its mass and radius yields a mean bulk density of 5.98 g/cm³ (a terrestrial silicate-iron composition comparable to Earth (5.51 g/cm³)), a surface gravity of 1.32 g⊕ (12.94 m/s²), and an escape velocity of 14.2 km/s.

In its orbital architecture around PSR B0329+54, PSR B0329+54 b completes one full revolution every 10140 Earth days (27.76Julian years) at a semi-major axis of 10.26 AU (a wide outer-system orbit beyond Jupiter's 5.20 AU distance in our Solar System). Its mean orbital velocity is approximately 11 km/s (compared to Earth's 29.8 km/s). Its moderate orbital eccentricity of e = 0.236 carries the world between 7.8386 AU at periapsis and 12.6814 AU at apoapsis, driving measurable seasonal insolation cycles.

ℹ️ Thermal & Atmospheric Regime: Current photometric and spectroscopic constraints for PSR B0329+54 b place it outside the conservative habitable zone definition pending further atmospheric characterization.

The host star PSR B0329+54 is classified as a stellar host with a mass of 1.44 M☉. From Earth, PSR B0329+54 shines at apparent V-band magnitude 20.867 (faint and requiring research-grade or CCD telescopic photometry) in the Northern celestial hemisphere.
