Astrophysical Synthesis & Habitability Characterization

KMT-2025-BLG-1616L b is a confirmed gas giant exoplanet orbiting the star KMT-2025-BLG-1616L, located approximately 24461.7 light-years (7500 parsecs) from the Solar System. First announced in 2026 by KMTNet using the Microlensing detection technique (detected via relativistic gravitational lensing of a background source star), this world measures 7.34 Earth radii (0.65 Jupiter radii) and has a measured mass of 42.32 Earth masses (0.13 Jupiter masses). Combining its mass and radius yields a mean bulk density of 0.59 g/cm³ (a low bulk density dominated by an extended hydrogen-helium gaseous envelope), a surface gravity of 0.79 g⊕ (7.75 m/s²), and an escape velocity of 26.9 km/s.

☁️ Atmospheric Regime (Volatile / Gas Envelope): With a radius of 7.340 R⊕, KMT-2025-BLG-1616L b exceeds the empirical ~1.8–2.2 R⊕ Fulton radius valley threshold, indicating a substantial hydrogen-helium or supercritical volatile envelope without a conventional solid terrestrial surface.

The host star KMT-2025-BLG-1616L is classified as a low-mass red dwarf of spectral type M V with a mass of 0.26 M☉.

Earth Similarity Index (ESI): 0.37 Earth Baseline = 1.00
0.00 Dissimilar 0.50 Mars Scale 0.70 Analog Regime 1.00 Earth

Methodology: Computed using the Schulze-Makuch et al. (2011) weighted metric comparing physical interior (radius, estimated density) and surface thermal regime (escape velocity, equilibrium temperature).
