Astrophysical Synthesis & Habitability Characterization

KMT-2021-BLG-1770L b is a confirmed gas giant exoplanet orbiting the star KMT-2021-BLG-1770L, located approximately 22570 light-years (6920 parsecs) from the Solar System. First announced in 2023 by KMTNet using the Microlensing detection technique (detected via relativistic gravitational lensing of a background source star), this world measures 12.1 Earth radii (1.08 Jupiter radii) and has a measured mass of 6674.397 Earth masses (21 Jupiter masses). Combining its mass and radius yields a mean bulk density of 20.77 g/cm³ (an iron-enriched, high-compression rocky core), a surface gravity of 45.59 g⊕ (447.09 m/s²), and an escape velocity of 262.7 km/s.

☁️ Atmospheric Regime (Volatile / Gas Envelope): With a radius of 12.100 R⊕, KMT-2021-BLG-1770L b exceeds the empirical ~1.8–2.2 R⊕ Fulton radius valley threshold, indicating a substantial hydrogen-helium or supercritical volatile envelope without a conventional solid terrestrial surface.

The host star KMT-2021-BLG-1770L is classified as a stellar host with a mass of 0.13 M☉.

Earth Similarity Index (ESI): 0.29 Earth Baseline = 1.00
0.00 Dissimilar 0.50 Mars Scale 0.70 Analog Regime 1.00 Earth

Methodology: Computed using the Schulze-Makuch et al. (2011) weighted metric comparing physical interior (radius, estimated density) and surface thermal regime (escape velocity, equilibrium temperature).
