Astrophysical Synthesis & Habitability Characterization

KMT-2021-BLG-0322L b is a confirmed gas giant exoplanet orbiting the star KMT-2021-BLG-0322L, located approximately 21526.3 light-years (6600 parsecs) from the Solar System. First announced in 2021 by KMTNet using the Microlensing detection technique (detected via relativistic gravitational lensing of a background source star), this world measures 12.7 Earth radii (1.13 Jupiter radii) and has a measured mass of 2034.102 Earth masses (6.4 Jupiter masses). Combining its mass and radius yields a mean bulk density of 5.48 g/cm³ (a terrestrial silicate-iron composition comparable to Earth (5.51 g/cm³)), a surface gravity of 12.61 g⊕ (123.66 m/s²), and an escape velocity of 141.6 km/s.

☁️ Atmospheric Regime (Volatile / Gas Envelope): With a radius of 12.700 R⊕, KMT-2021-BLG-0322L b exceeds the empirical ~1.8–2.2 R⊕ Fulton radius valley threshold, indicating a substantial hydrogen-helium or supercritical volatile envelope without a conventional solid terrestrial surface.

The host star KMT-2021-BLG-0322L is classified as a stellar host with a mass of 0.62 M☉.

Earth Similarity Index (ESI): 0.44 Earth Baseline = 1.00
0.00 Dissimilar 0.50 Mars Scale 0.70 Analog Regime 1.00 Earth

Methodology: Computed using the Schulze-Makuch et al. (2011) weighted metric comparing physical interior (radius, estimated density) and surface thermal regime (escape velocity, equilibrium temperature).
