Astrophysical Synthesis & Habitability Characterization

Kepler-1514 b is a confirmed gas giant exoplanet orbiting the star Kepler-1514, located approximately 1295.8 light-years (397.29 parsecs) from the Solar System. First announced in 2016 by Kepler using the Transit detection technique (producing an estimated primary transit depth of 0.7803% across the stellar disk), this world measures 12.42 Earth radii (1.11 Jupiter radii) and has a measured mass of 1678.142 Earth masses (5.28 Jupiter masses). Combining its mass and radius yields a mean bulk density of 4.83 g/cm³ (a terrestrial silicate-iron composition comparable to Earth (5.51 g/cm³)), a surface gravity of 10.88 g⊕ (106.7 m/s²), and an escape velocity of 130 km/s.

In its orbital architecture around Kepler-1514, Kepler-1514 b completes one full revolution every 217.832 Earth days at a semi-major axis of 0.753 AU (comparable to the inner terrestrial zone between Venus, Earth at 1.00 AU, and Mars at 1.52 AU). Its mean orbital velocity is approximately 37.6 km/s (compared to Earth's 29.8 km/s). The planet follows a highly eccentric trajectory (e = 0.401, swinging from 0.451 AU at periapsis out to 1.055 AU at apoapsis), pointing to past dynamical scattering or secular gravitational perturbations.

⚠️ Thermal Regime (Irradiated / Hot Zone): At an equilibrium temperature of 388 K (+115°C / +239°F) and receiving 3.23 S⊕ (~4,396 W/m²), Kepler-1514 b orbits interior to the runaway greenhouse boundary where surface liquid water cannot persist.

The host star Kepler-1514 is classified as a stellar host with an effective photospheric temperature of 6,145 K, a radius of 1.289 R☉, a mass of 1.196 M☉, an estimated bolometric luminosity of 2.126 L☉. Stellar evolution modeling indicates an estimated stellar age of 2.9 Gyr and a metallicity of [Fe/H] = 0.119 dex (metal-rich relative to the Sun). From Earth, Kepler-1514 shines at apparent V-band magnitude 11.766 (faint and requiring research-grade or CCD telescopic photometry) in the Northern celestial hemisphere. The Kepler-1514 system is a multi-planet architecture hosting 2 confirmed worlds, with Kepler-1514 b sharing its stellar neighborhood alongside Kepler-1514 c.
