Astrophysical Synthesis & Habitability Characterization

BD+60 1417 b is a confirmed gas giant exoplanet orbiting the star BD+60 1417, located approximately 146.6 light-years (44.95 parsecs) from the Solar System. First announced in 2021 by Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) Satellite Mission using the Imaging detection technique (resolved directly via high-contrast coronagraphic or interferometric imaging), this world measures 14.684 Earth radii (1.31 Jupiter radii) and has a measured mass of 4767.426 Earth masses (15 Jupiter masses). Combining its mass and radius yields a mean bulk density of 8.3 g/cm³ (an iron-enriched, high-compression rocky core), a surface gravity of 22.11 g⊕ (216.83 m/s²), and an escape velocity of 201.6 km/s.

⚠️ Thermal Regime (Irradiated / Hot Zone): At an equilibrium temperature of 1303 K (+1030°C / +1886°F), BD+60 1417 b orbits interior to the runaway greenhouse boundary where surface liquid water cannot persist.

The host star BD+60 1417 is classified as an orange K-type star of spectral type K0 with an effective photospheric temperature of 4,993 K, a radius of 0.797 R☉, a mass of 1 M☉, an estimated bolometric luminosity of 0.354 L☉. Stellar evolution modeling indicates an estimated stellar age of 0.1 Gyr. From Earth, BD+60 1417 shines at apparent V-band magnitude 9.374 (accessible to binoculars and small amateur telescopes) in the Northern celestial hemisphere.
