Astrophysical Synthesis & Habitability Characterization

2MASS J02192210-3925225 b is a confirmed gas giant exoplanet orbiting the star 2MASS J02192210-3925225, located approximately 130.8 light-years (40.09 parsecs) from the Solar System. First announced in 2015 by Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory using the Imaging detection technique (resolved directly via high-contrast coronagraphic or interferometric imaging), this world measures 16.141 Earth radii (1.44 Jupiter radii) and has a measured mass of 4417.837 Earth masses (13.9 Jupiter masses). Combining its mass and radius yields a mean bulk density of 5.79 g/cm³ (a terrestrial silicate-iron composition comparable to Earth (5.51 g/cm³)), a surface gravity of 16.96 g⊕ (166.32 m/s²), and an escape velocity of 185.1 km/s.

❄️ Thermal Regime (Cryogenic Zone): With an equilibrium temperature of 6 K (-267°C / -449°F), surface water and volatile species on 2MASS J02192210-3925225 b would remain locked in cryogenic ice phases unless warmed by subsurface tidal or radiogenic heating.

The host star 2MASS J02192210-3925225 is classified as a low-mass red dwarf of spectral type M6 with an effective photospheric temperature of 3,064 K, a radius of 0.281 R☉, a mass of 0.108 M☉, an estimated bolometric luminosity of 0.00624 L☉. Stellar evolution modeling indicates an estimated stellar age of 0.035 Gyr. From Earth, 2MASS J02192210-3925225 shines at apparent Gaia G-band magnitude 15.012 (faint and requiring research-grade or CCD telescopic photometry) in the Southern celestial hemisphere.

Earth Similarity Index (ESI): 0.01 Earth Baseline = 1.00
